Purchases
Adamson Rig
Sound Image, a San Diego, CA-based
sound company, recently purchased a
new Adamson Systems PA, including
24 Y18’s, 32 Y10’s, and 12 T21’s. “We
feel that Sound Image and Adamson
have a similar approach to the way that
they treat their clients,” stated Jesse
Adamson, Director of Marketing and
Sales for Adamson Systems. “They are
a service-focused organization and they
do a great job. I had been talking to
Dave Shadoan (Owner of Sound Image)
about what Adamson and Sound Image
could do together for quite a few years,
and we’re excited in the direction it has
now taken.”
“I was talking to someone the other

day, and they asked me: ‘Why did you
buy an Adamson rig?’ stated Shadoan.
“I responded ‘Jesse made me do it!’ It’s
simple: we provide what our clients ask
for. There are some great mix engineers
out there who ask us for Adamson, and
we just make sure that they get what
they want. And Adamson makes sure we
know who those people are.” The new rig
will be used on an upcoming, as of yet,
unannounced Sound Image tour. n
Sennheiser Dances
with the Stars
Sennheiser has seen a variety of its
products used on ABC’s hit television
show, Dancing With The Stars, including 11 MKH 8000 Series condenser
microphones for covering an 18-piece
orchestra. Two “crystalized” SKM 5200
RF handheld mics have been added for
use by the show’s co-host and guest performers. Production Mixer Evan Adelman added MKH 8040 cardioid and
MKH 8050 super-cardioid condenser
mics. He stated, “I started using them
on the woodwinds and on both acoustic and electric guitar. The others are on
percussion and drum overheads. They’re
really important on the reeds. These people go from flute to piccolo to baritone
saxophone and everything in between –
sometimes in the same song.”

Adelman adopted Sennheiser wireless and wired microphones last year
across the board for the show, which
made its US debut in June 2005 and
is produced at CBS Television City in
Hollywood. The equipment, supplied by
Burbank-based Soundtronics, includes
SKM 5200 RF handheld microphones
outfitted with MD 5002 and MD 5235
capsules for the co-hosts and guest artists, MKE Platinum lavalier mics and
SK 5012 or SK 5212 G2 wireless transmitters for contestants and judges, plus
instrument mics and HD 25 headphones
for the orchestra members. n
