From the Editor’s Desk…
As most in the business of using wireless microphones already
know, the date has been pushed back. If you’re asking yourself,
“What date?” You’re obviously not a regular reader of audio
publications! We’re all guilty of over-announcing that date
over and over. I’m of course talking about the FCC pushing
back the switch to digital television in the U.S. Our friend
on this issue’s cover, Lady Liberty, clearly
shows the new date by which you have
to make sure your wireless microphone
systems will be operating outside the
700 MHz bandwidth: June 12, 2009.
This issue’s Real World Gear section of course focuses on wireless
microphone systems that will operate
in that 700 MHz bandwidth. If you’re
still shopping for products to make sure
you’re not caught with outdated equipment, this section will help to guide your
choices in the coming two months to
avoid rumored government fines.
The remainder of our April issue features a variety of stories showing what sound companies are doing around the
globe. From a theater retrofit in Toronto, to a beachfront
concert in the Bahamas, to a seasonal concert tour of the U.S.,
you’ll find an interesting sampling of what’s been going on in
sound reinforcement lately.
As always, drop us a line to let us know what you think.
